Education

Home Health Care

During my academic tenure at City Colleges of Chicago, I was privileged to work beside some amazing leaders and mentors. I have to thank Catherine Okoroh for teaching me financial literacy, finding out my credit score, paying off debtors, and securing me my first healthcare job at Misericordia Heart of Mercy as a DSP. She told me, “Faith, there are 3 phases of life: surviving, living, and thriving.” I am well on my way to thriving thanks to her continued support and encouragement over the years.

Psychology

Growing up I knew I wanted to be an advocate for others and speak up for people who can’t speak up for themselves. As a child I assumed this dream job was a lawyer so I formulated my academic and career goals throughout adolescence on working in the judicial system. But I soon learned law wasn’t my passion and even though I tried to force my way onto that path, I spent my first time out of school in over 15 years and fell into a deep depression over my academic failures. It was only by the Grace of God and the love of Jesus Christ that I was able to see the purpose of my recalibration and his angels that encouraged me to try out nursing. I have to thank Candice Nono, MSN, RN who was the first nurse I met on my journey and provided me with the skills to become a CNA. Soon after, Sarah Stark, BSN, RN took a chance on a new nursing assistant and hired me for my first clinical job at AIMMC as a Cardiac/Telemetry tech. I have realized as a nurse I am advocating for clients at their most vulnerable time and my voice will be the difference in life or death for others. I couldn’t have asked for a better journey towards my dream job!
